We rage...
The Montreal Raging Grannies work to bring attention to peace, justice, equality and environmental issues. Our songs about the environment address the problems of clear-cut logging, toxins, pollution, single-use plastics, oil spills, fracking and radiation. We also have a wide range of “Anti” songs. Anti-war, free trade, nuclear waste disposal, poverty, war toys and violence against women.
We rage because:
- Climate change is destroying our planet
- Gender based violence and racism affects everyone
- In 2016, 49 armed conflicts were taking place costing trillions of dollars in military spending. At least 14 countries use child soldiers under the age of 15 years
- The world’s wealthiest 16 % uses 80 % of our natural resources
We have:
- Presented many briefs at municipal, provincial and federal Government hearings
- Participated in events at schools, CEGEPS, hospitals, churches, environmental and women’s organizations
- Raged at countless protests
- Demonstrated against clothing corporations’ persistent use of sweatshops
- Marched with environmental groups to protest the government’s inaction on climate change
- Moderated protest-song writing workshops at the annual Equitas International Human Rights Training Program

We will continue to rage until:
- Native land claims are respected and settled justly
- Our planet’s future looks green
- International disputes are settled peacefully and with justice
- Violence against women and children is eliminated
- Racism, Sexism, Ageism and other forms of negative discrimination are ended
